SANTA BARBARA Lazarus (Basia).

She is elite-born. Her pedigree form the sire's side is purely American - Bohem FLIGHT TIME for many years was no.1 in Finland, nowadays he is still very successful in a veteran class: '00 All Breeds Best Veteran. He is excellent in motion, elegant despite his age. At the World Dog Show in Helsinki in 1998 he was awarded The Best Breeding Male and he repeated this success on the prestigious Special Show in Skokloster in Sweden. Basia's grandfather - Chelsea Drakkar of Oxford (Drake) - was a living legend dog in the US. He is a winner of many special shows, and a father of many great litters. We are very proud of having him in our dogs' pedigrees.
Another important dog in these pedigrees is, definitely, Delacreme De La Renta (Oscar) - the leading American whippet, for many years the US All Breeds Best Breeding Male, an ancestor of many famous dogs in the breed's history.
The mother's side is completely different - she has a lot of English and Scandinavian blood and it mixes very well with the American influences. Her mother, LOVE ME TENDER Lazarus (Lami) was born in the first litter of our kennel, in 1993. She was the first female Interchampion in the breed. This black & white bitch is a daughter of Bynkemarken's ZARAH LEANDER (Sara) imported from Denmark, and her mother comes from the UK, from a home country of whippets in its present form.
There are many names of famous whippets in our females pedigrees, whippets that are often mentioned in books about the breed as the ones who shaped and influenced it the most: : Bondicar Blossom, Charmoll McTavish, Samarkands Greenbrae Tarragon, Dondelayo Duette, Laguna Ligonier and others. From the father's side (born in Sweden Nippy's Cadett) Lami's pedigree is full of Scandinavian celebrities like for example: Gardsjons Carolina and Bohem Filipin, they are mentioned in the Scandinavian bibliography as fundamental dogs for the breed. SANTA BARBARA Lazarus - Basia - can certainly be proud of some important victories and titles. Her successes are impressive and there is still a lot more to come. Right from the beginning she started giving us a lot of reasons for joy - her debut in Bialystok in 1998 resulted with the BIS Junior despite a strong competition and a heavy rain. She was very brave and this performance was a prove to us that we took the right decision choosing her to stay with us. In the Club Show in 1998 she was Junior Club Winner, Best Junior Whippet as well as BIS Junior. She is a Polish Junior Champion, Polish Champion and also a '00 Club Winner and '02 Club Winner (+BIS3). She has always been evaluated "excellent" whenever shown abroad. Basia is very good in motion, has a beautiful neck, good body length, correctly angulated legs. She is an American type and it does not stop her getting good evaluations. Her siblings form S litter is also very successful: SAN BERNARDINO and SARATOGA SPRINGS gained Championships in 2000. Males from this litter proved to be very good sires, and because they are all very young dogs, the future is very promising to us. SARATOGA SPRINGS gave birth to a litter in December 2000 and these children are as successful in shows as their mother and their aunt.
